Riemannian Tangencies
Clark Richert
Riemiannian Tangencies is a commission for MCA DENVER utilizing a non-repeating pattern that is interrelated by the Golden Proportion. Richert incorporates mathematics and “theories regarding the structure of the universe” into his designs. Located alongside the Museum, Richert’s site specific work plays upon Adjaye’s architecture. The winding curve applied to the polymer inlay synchronizes with the Golden Proportion embedded in the Museum’s site providing “lyrical movement reflecting the activities for which the Museum was created.”
He received his BFA from the University of Kansas, Lawrence and his MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has exhibited at RULE Gallery, Denver, CO; Cornell Dewitt Gallery, New York, NY; and Denver Art Museum, CO. Public collections of his work include the Wichita Museum, KS; Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kansas City, MO; and the Smithsonian Museum, Washington, D.C.
Sponsored in part by Jill A. Wiltse & H. Kirk Brown III.
