With FACES, Amorales created a mixed media installation for MCA DENVER's New Media Gallery. FACES juxtaposes a walking spider-like creature with a skull head dancing to global beat music, exploring the "role of fantasy in contemporary society." Amorales works in video animation, painting, sculpture and performance mediums, creating controversial images of reality. In the past, Amorales has created performance-art projects that featured masked Mexican wrestlers performing at the Tate Modern in London, United Kingdom and simultaneously on the Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling circuit.

Carlos Amorales was born in Mexico in 1970 and currently lives and works in Mexico City. He has exhibited in Why Fear the Future? MUCA, Mexico City, Mexico; Art Basel, Switzerland; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Illinois; and the Venice Biennale (2003) Italy. His hour long animated video The Forest was exhibited as part of The 59th Minute in Times Square, New York, NY in 2004.
