Chris Ofili
Ofili exhibited his new series of 23 rich watercolors in MCA DENVER's Paper Works Gallery. Widely recognized as a master of watercolor, Ofili explores the nude as Body Electric. His images of empowered women seduce with their directness and classical poses outlined in luminescent curves. Ofili's series brings greater physicality to recognized images of the female form from the Fauvists of Walt Whitman's era.
Chris Ofili was born in the United Kingdom in 1968 and currently lives and works in Trinidad. Of Nigerian descent, Ofili studied at the Chelsea School of Art, London, United Kingdom and received his MFA from the Royal College of Art, London, United Kingdom. His work is included in collections at The British Museum, London, United Kingdom; Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA; and Tate Gallery, London, United Kingdom.
