Collier Schorr
MCA DENVER presents the first solo museum exhibition of Collier Schorr's Jens F. series in the Photography Gallery. Jens F. follows the enduring tradition of the artist and the muse. Using Andrew Wyeth's longtime association with model Helga as point of departure, the Jens F. series is an intensive study of medium, genre and gender. Schorr's six year collaboration with a German teenage boy results in a layered work contrasting his history with Helga's, and their experience with Wyeth's art history. Part biography, part conversation, the investigation includes photo-collages, as well as the books and journals the artists composed while working on the series.
Collier Schorr was born in the United States in 1963 and currently lives and works in New York, NY. She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. Schorr has exhibited her work at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; Jewish Museum, New York, NY; Stedelijk, Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Consoricio Salamanca, Spain.
